Charlotte Pipe Co. - Charlotte, NC
GMD Flue Gas Cooler, GMD TETST, a GMD Ten (10) Module Dust Collector
System with a 500 HP Fan and 100' Free-Standing Stack. Exceeds requirements
of Iron and Steel MACT.
GMD Environmental Technologies, Inc. has recently completed several GMD
Cupola Emission Reduction and Treatment Systems (GMD CERTST) Projects.
All are "dry" systems utilizing GMD Pulse Type Baghouses and GMD TETST for
treating the lead laden baghouse dust. Some include GMD's Flue Gas Cooler
to cool the off-gases before they enter the Fabric Filters. Designs are
specific to the promulgated MACT Standards.
Replacing a Wet Scrubber, the system at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry
Inc. uses GMD's Flue Gas
Cooler to cool the off-gases, GMD's TETST to treat the baghouse lead laden
dust and the GMD's Pulse Baghouses to filter the particulate from the off-gases.

Replacing wet scrubbing, the GMD CERTST
at Waupaca Plant #1 is purported to be one-of-a-kind using "high"
temperature dilution air cooling to lower the extremely high temperature
of the Cupola combustor off-gase discharge to a temperature suitable for
the inlet to the alloy tube GMD Flue Gas Cooler. As with all GMD CERTST,
GMD's Totally Enclosed Treatment System (TETST) conditions the heavy metal
(Pb) laden baghouse dust to a non-hazardous condition before it is discharged
from the baghouse hopper(s) while at the same time treating the acid gas
(SO 2) in the off-gasses before they exit to the atmosphere.
Waupaca Foundry Plant #1 - Waupaca, WI
GMD High Temperature Dilution Air Cooling, GMD Flue Gas Cooler ( cools
cupola off-gas from 1400ºF to 350ºF), GMD TETST and a GMD Six (6) Module
Dust Collector System with Induced Draft Fan and Exhaust Stack. Exceeds
requirements of Iron and Steel MACT.
